Social Action at TBE
Social Action at TBE
Sisterhood and Women’s Spirituality Group are partnering in support of Jewish Federation of Broward County’s The Dignity Project – Empowering women and girls in our community. We are collecting the following personal/feminine hygiene products: pads, tampons, liners, menstrual cups, soap, wipes, deodorant, and shampoo. Bring your donations to TBE’s back entrance. Please call the temple office to arrange for drop off upon your arrival. Thanks to all who have already donated!
Temple Beth El of Hollywood’s Social Action Committee is committed to Tikkun Olam, “repairing the world.”
We strive to make our community a better place and we encourage all of our temple members to join us. Everyone can get involved with events like our Mitzvah Day. Throughout the year we collect food and clothing for those in need. Please do whatever you can to help.
Temple Beth El of Hollywood is also a partner in Hollywood Cares along with the First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood. Hollywood Cares is a non-profit organization that raises funds and awareness to support an orphanage and school in Haiti for children affected by HIV/AIDS.
We are proud of our members’ efforts to help those in our community that are less fortunate. With your continued support we can make a difference.
Have tzedakah boxes and piggy banks collecting dust? Bring your spare change to TBE to donate to the Spechler Family Mitzvah Fund. Please call the Temple office to arrange for drop off.
AFTER SCHOOL shifts available!
The Cupboard has two volunteer opportunities to at the food pantry:
1. Warehouse Assistant: issuing bags to Pick Up Clients, pack groceries, and sort donations.
2. Administrative Support: calling clients to scheduled their appointments, go through COVID-19 questionnaire, and dietary restrictions, filing documents, data entry, answering phone, check in client, and other administrative and client service duties, as needed.
After school shifts are available from Monday through Thursday, 4 - 6 pm. Remember, as a token of appreciation, we are accustomed to double the community hours to students.
For safety purposes, The DBJG Cupboard is limiting the amount of people at the food pantry, taking temperature to all volunteers, and requiring to wear face covering at all times.
