To paraphrase an old saying: Neither rain nor snow nor sleet nor hail will prevent a cemetery from looking its best, regardless of the time of year. This is what the public expects. While doing my “morning routine” that thought came to mind and I wanted to share it with you. My day began, like any other day, by filling up the bird feeder and walking the grounds; after that I sat for a moment to watch the butterflies. As I gazed out at the grounds, in true amazement, I realized how tranquil and beautiful the cemetery had become. With the high holidays now a new memory, I wanted to thank my staff for their hard work and efforts in making this happen. The past three months have been quite exhausting for them; the days were hot and long, and the lists of things for them to do seemed unending. The trees were trimmed in preparation for hurricane season, the roads blacktopped, and then there was the final check list for the annual Temple visit before Yom Kippur. We wanted to make sure that the cemetery was perfect for the Kever Avot Memorial Service. By the time the cleaning, cutting, mowing, and primping was over, the guys realized just how beautiful the cemetery had become and how important it was to me. There were times that I may have pushed a little too hard or asked for a little too much, but I have to say, that final week really brought a new meaning to friendship and loyalty. In the end, we were reaping the rewards as families made it a point to thank us and to comment on how beautiful the cemetery looked. Thank you to John, Jimmy, and Jerry for a job well done! Wishing all of you and your families a very healthy and happy Thanksgiving! Dawn Zasloff, Cemetery Administrator Phone: (954) 584-7151Y Fax: (954) 581-6998 Email: dzasloff@fdn.com |
