Lifelong Learning Joyful Shabbat Renewal Services at Temple Beth El Eva D. Abramczyk
Our next Shabbat Renewal Service will be October 30th, at 10:00 am. These especially spiritual and joyful services start with gentle yoga exercises with a Jewish touch. This helps us to balance our bodies and clear our minds, so we are ready to focus on our prayers.
Judaism urges us to take good care of our bodies, as they were given to us by God. As a line in our prayer book says, “Limbs and tongue and heart and mind shall join to praise your name, praise your name with all our being.”
Our goal is to integrate body, mind, and soul. The services are accompanied by Rabbi Tuffs’ guitar and Cantor Manny Silver’s warm, melodious voice. Tambourines and shakers are available to all who want to play. Psalm 150 says, “Hallelujah, praise God with the harp and lute … with drum and dance … with strings and pipe … with cymbals resounding.”
Spirited Torah discussions and meditation, led by Rabbi Tuffs, round out these wonderful services we can all participate in. My words are inadequate to describe these experiences. You owe it to yourself to come join us. You, too, will walk away uplifted, happy, and in a mellow mood, regardless of how tense and stressful your week has been. This will also carry you into the next week with a feeling of peace.
When possible, we hold services in the Lester and Marion Sternfels Pavilion, a beautiful outdoor space, donated generously by Marion Sternfels. This adds a symphony of birdsong to our music and prayers.
Attendance at these Shabbat Renewal Services is greater than at our regular Saturday morning services. Dress is casual. To round out the morning, we share an enjoyable lunch with Rabbi and Manny, to which we have brought a vegetarian or dairy dish. The variety of foods at these lunches is amazing.
We would like to welcome you to Shabbat Renewal Services, right here in our friendly Temple Beth El atmosphere. You will walk away more relaxed and happier than you came. | |
