Megan LaGala, Youth Activities Coordinator There was a poor woman who sold apples near the Rabbi’s house. The woman came to the Rabbi to tell him of her problems. “Rabbi, I have no money, and no one will buy my apples.” The Rabbi listened carefully and then he asked, “Why are you unable to sell your apples?” “People won’t buy my apples,” she replied, “because they were told that the apples are bad.” Without saying anything, the Rabbi went out into the street and began shouting, “I HAVE GOOD APPLES! WHO WOULD LIKE SOME?” Almost immediately, the Rabbi was surrounded by people. In no time, he was able to sell all the apples. The rabbi handed the woman the money as she stood in disbelief. “How is it possible, Rabbi?” she asked. It is not so strange,” he replied, “to see people buying when they are told something is good. Your apples were good. The only thing wrong was that people didn’t know that.” * In the spirit of such a story, I would like to take a moment to shout from the rooftops and let everyone know, “WE HAVE AMAZING YOUTH PROGRAMS! WHO WOULD LIKE TO PARTICIPATE?” Since we have started announcing the radical change in our youth department for this year, we have had an incredible amount of feedback. Enrollment for youth groups has already exceeded our membership goals for the year! We continue to welcome new members. Our Senior Youth Group, HEFTY, started off with a bang at our Progressive Dinner in September. October brought with it a trip to Disney in Orlando and the NFTY-STR Fall Kallah in Miami. The Youth Activities Department had two fantastic events, the Welcome Party at TY Park with a bounce house and relay races, and the Sukkot Festival with tons of new exciting things to try. In the coming months, Shir Chadash, the junior choir will be participating in services, Chaverim youth group will go on a trip to Wannado City, HEFTY Jr. will spend an afternoon at the movies, and HEFTY will go on a canoe trip. In December, HEFTY will have an evening together, beginning with Havdalah, and followed by a night on the town. So much to do Sign your child up for an experience to remember! Please refer to the calendar for a complete listing of all upcoming events! We can’t wait to see your child here! “AMAZING YOUTH PROGRAMS!
