Overview
As a Reform congregation, and a member of the Union for Reform Judaism, Temple Beth El is devoted to the ideal of freedom to creatively celebrate our beliefs and explore our heritage, while maintaining our Jewish values, ethics, and traditions.

Temple Beth El is a place to worship, learn, share, and grow. It offers the best of two worlds as the young join with the more senior to create an atmosphere of warmth and caring. All are welcomed into the congregational family with the knowledge that Temple Beth El will help to nourish the spirit and bring peace and fulfillment.

Membership at Temple Beth El is a partnership between the congregant and the congregation. Temple Beth El promises to provide for the spiritual, religious, educational, and social needs of its congregational family. Members promise to care for Temple Beth El through their regular participation and by means of their financial support. However, in addition to standard membership fees and enhanced levels of support, reduced dues are offered to those member families and individuals who have financial limitations, as well as to seasonal members who support congregations in other areas of the country. Anyone who needs to will find a friendly ear and will be able to make special arrangements.

All members of the congregational family are encouraged to take an active part in Temple life. Temple Beth El membership applications request areas of interest, experience, or special skills. Your choices will get you involved in new programs and projects, as well as ongoing committees.

Mission Statement
The mission of Temple Beth El is to ensure the continuing existence of the Jewish Religion and to cultivate a love for our Jewish heritage through GOD, TORAH and ISRAEL.  We hope to reach these goals through:

Avodah: worship of God in a Reform Jewish congregation seeking to offer a variety of traditional and evolving spiritual practices for the religious development and fulfillment of our congregants.

Chavurah: a community of people of all ages, families of all configurations and backgrounds, all committed to creating a warm and welcoming Reform Jewish congregation.

Talmud Torah: an enlightened program of Jewish learning for all members, young and old.

Tikkun Olam: commitment to the ideals of our Jewish ethical heritage and to the prophetic work of meeting our responsibilities to our community, our nation, and our word.

C’lal Yisrael: strengthening of our commitment to Israel and the Jewish people of all lands and working to establish understanding and commonality among the various expressions of Judaism.

History
Temple Beth El opened its doors in 1957 when its first service was held in a meeting room of the Hollywood Beach Hotel. At that time, the congregation boasted approximately two dozen families, all of whom had a vision – a traditional Reform congregation in the heart of Hollywood. Through the generosity and dedication of several of these families, Temple Beth El became a reality and grew into the focal point of Reform Judaism in southern Broward County.
